Q: I have purchased a new computer. How do I transfer my ShopFactory files from one computer to another?

A: Moving a shop project across to another computer is not difficult. However, there are a few things that needs to be done too make sure the shop will work properly after transferring it.

First you need to compress your shop by using ZIP or WinRAR

1. Go to My Documents\ShopFactory V7 Websites\
(or the designated directory if you have chosen another directory)

2. Find the folder which has the name of your shop.

E.g. My Documents\ShopFactory V7 Websites\MyWebsite001

3. Compress the entire folder including sub-folders as these include all the images and other files of your website.

4. You can either move the ZIP file to your laptop and unzip it to your new computer or you can burn the file to a CD and extract it from there. When using a media such as a CD, you will need to be careful as your files attributes may be change to read only. This can cause a problem when trying to open the shop in ShopFactory and you will need to change this first.
